Static electricity in one corner of my living room. Anything that can conduct is zapping me.?

I hope I said that right....I noticed that this one corner of our living room is very bad with static. My computer even will zap me if it is sitting on the end table that is in the same corner. A TV is on the left and there is a gas fireplace also. Pretty much anything in the corner will shock you EVERY TIME! We have had static issues last year. Door nobs the static with each other. It stopped. This(the shock) is not normal. Usually static will not zap you again and again. Like 3 times in a row. This is strange and I wonder if it's from the TV. Strong energy in that corner? Its not a bad but everything does seem to shock in that corner???? 10 points to the best explanation. And if there is a lot of energy in that corner is it not safe for my computer?
