What happens to Clinton in "The Eyes of Texas" by Gilbert Morris?

I read the description of it at the end of the second book, and it says crazy things like Clinton joins the rangers and becomes a killing machine, now I'm almost certain they have to be talking about Brodie, because Brodie actually said he was going to join them and Clinton didn't seem to ever have any interest in it. Please tell me, I like the stories, but I don't care for Gilbert Morris's writing style, so I'd rather not have to read the entire book.
