Could a camper van type of car pull a horse trailer?

There is a horse show that I would love to go to but I would have to use a trailer to get there and the only car that my parents have with a tow hook is a camper van. It is also quite old, but it's safe to drive. My pony is 13.2 which means that he is a large pony and weighs about 800-900 lbs. The show is about half an hour away, do you think this would work? Also, can you drive a car with a trailer attached if you only have an ordinary driving license? Sorry, I know nothing about cars.
