I need help with a research question on an author?

For a project i am doing an I search paper. where i describe the process of researching my topic. I have to read the book Farewell to Manzanar by James D Houston and write something about the author based on his work. The problem is i have no idea what to research! Can you people help me figure out a research question at highschool level? Thanks for your help
